World Environment Day was celebrated in our school on 5th June with great enthusiasm and dedication. Jhelum house took the lead in presenting a special assembly to emphasize the significance of the day. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Surendra Nayak and Mr. Manjunath Sastry Trustees MRPL Education Trust who were the chief guests for the occasion. MRPL ONGC organised a series of competitions including Poster Making, Essay Writing and Model Making competitions for classes 7 to 10 encouraging them to express their creativity and concern for the environment. The assembly featured a variety of performances by students, including a captivating mime show, an expressive dance and a mellifluous rendition that highlighted the importance of environmental conservation for future generations. As a symbolic gesture of our commitment to nurturing nature, Jhelum house members planted a sapling, reaffirming our commitment to protecting and preserving the environment. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks leaving everyone inspired to contribute to a greener and healthier planet.<p><br/><br/><h3><strong>Report on Model display on Environment Day at SDM College Mangalore</strong></h3><p class="desc" style="text-align: justify; padding:10px;">On the occasion of World Environment Day, MRPL organized various competitions to inspire students of DPS ,MRPL to engage with environmental issues creatively and foster a sense of responsibility towards our planet. The model making competition conducted for students of classes 8 to 10 aimed to encourage students to explore innovative solutions to environmental challenges through hands-on learning and artistic expression. All the models made by students were displayed in school . Each participating student/ group of two created a model that addressed a specific environmental theme or challenge. 22 models were selected and displayed in SDM college, Mangalore where the World Environment Day 2024 programme was conducted on 05/06/2024 under the joint auspices of Karnataka state Pollution Control Board Regional office Mangalore and Industrial Entrepreneurs. A group of 26 students and two of the teachers in charge Mr.Venkat Rao and Ms. Swathikrishnan reached SDM college at 9:30 am. Each model was carefully arranged near the college Auditorium and students explained its environmental theme and the message it aimed to convey. The display of models made by our students garnered attention and positive feedback from the Chief guest, other dignitaries, students and faculties of SDM college and all other visitors. Many expressed admiration for the creativity and ingenuity displayed in the models, as well as gratitude for the opportunity to learn about environmental issues in a visually engaging way. This event provided a platform for our students for their artistic expression and educational engagement. It also empowered students to make positive changes in their environment.<p>
